Customer Overview
The Bio-Inspired Robotics & Design Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) conducts research on robotics and engineering design inspired by biological motion and behavior.
To support its research, the lab requires highly accurate motion data for analysis, validation, and robotic system development.

Project Background
To advance its bio-inspired robotics research, the lab needed a high-precision optical motion capture environment capable of:
Capturing complex movements with high accuracy
Supporting multiple tracking targets across a large capture area
Providing reliable motion data for robotics research and engineering analysis

Optical Motion Capture Solution
XEROmotion delivered and installed a customized optical motion capture system featuring:
HALO v22 optical motion capture cameras
A camera layout optimized for the laboratory's research environment and experimental objectives
HELIX software for motion capture, tracking, and data processing
The system provides wide-area coverage and stable real-time motion tracking, supporting a wide range of robotics experiments and bio-inspired engineering research.

Implementation & Training
Following installation, XEROmotion performed on-site camera calibration and tracking validation using actual experimental setups to ensure stable system performance and accurate data capture.
Hands-on training was also provided for faculty members and students, covering:
Camera setup and system calibration
Motion data capture and playback
Practical use of HELIX software for research workflows
With this training, the research team can independently operate the system and efficiently apply motion capture technology to ongoing research and educational projects.
Results
Results
Stable multi-camera tracking across the research environment
